23 May 09 - Paul
flies!! - Paul flew a couple of flight's this morning. We later reviewed
the videos of each flight in detail to note point's for improvement for the next
training flight's. Good work Paul on your successful flights!!

Confirming
Comms check prior to
flight
Wow, What a
view!!
A new Freddy(Fredericton) Flyer is born!!!
22 May 09 - More
ground training - This evening Paul and I conducted
refresher training. It has been several days of poor weather and I
wanted to ensure that his training is fresh in his mind prior to his first
flight tomorrow morning. It also gave me a chance to test fly his
equipment and conduct a demonstration. Paul did very well and hopefully
Mother Nature will co-operate tomorrow morning.

20 May 09 - Flew
new SD II - This evening around 8 o'clock the winds dropped
and I had a chance to fly the new SD II. I was quite surprised
at the low winds
due to the forecast was supposed to be terrible this evening, but mother nature
giveth I must taketh!! Few pics

19 May 09 - Paul
starts foot launch training - Paul has been out watching the
boys from Fredericton, NB the pass couple of months anxiously waiting to fly. We
trained all day and at the end of the training day Paul wrote his Student
Pilot Permit test and passed. Paul's ready to fly, now we just have to wait for
Mother nature to co-operate.

19 May 09 -
Parrsboro Festival - A few PPG pilots attended the Annual Flying
Festival on the weekend in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. Unfortunately we were
unable to attend do to my training
schedule. However, it look's like it was a sucessful event with lots
of Motor's buzzing the Skies of Parrsboro, NS. Good work guy's, it look's
like the event was a great time!!

18 May 09 - PPG
pilot to make cross-Canada powered paragliding trip -
A
Nelson, B.C., man says he will launch a powered paraglider
from a school ball
field, kicking off a 10,000-kilometre cross-Canada trip – and his dream to
fly. Benjamin Jordan, 28, said he’s taking on the challenge starting Friday
morning to raise money so children can attend summer camp. He also wants to set
a world powered-paragliding
record. During the summer of 2006, Jordan was one of
four men to skateboard to Vancouver from Halifax, some 8,000 kilometres, to
raise
money for breast cancer research. “I’m pretty keen on pushing
boundaries,” he said. “I like problem solving.” Jordan’s paraglider is
essentially
an aerodynamic parachute powered by a 110 CC, two-stroke engine.
He’ll take off from a school in Tofino, B.C., flying to Port Alberni on the
first day. Jordan hopes to land in St. John’s, N.L., by August 30. A
support crew will follow him along the way. “My childhood dream has been
to fly,” he said. Jordan said he began going to day camp when he was about five
and attended his first overnight camp at age eight. By the age
of 16, Jordan
said, he was a camp counsellor. Going to camp made him realize he could do just
about anything, he said. “The summer camp experience has been absolutely
invaluable in my life and I was fortunate enough to be sent to a subsidized camp
in my youth.” Jordan, who’s looking for donations, said the trip is expected
cost about $20,000, including the money for a school bus bought at an auction.
According to Guinness World Records 2009, the title for the longest journey by
powered paraglider is held by American resident Bob Holloway. Between
June 18
and July 12, 2004, Holloway flew his powered paraglider 4,150 kilometres along
the Lewis and Clark Trail to Washington, Mo., from Astoria, Ore.
I can only comment
on," may the winds be downwind and light". And good luck on your
journey for such a good cause.

16 May 09 - Test Flying
New Feathers on the Xcitor - I had an opportunity
to get in a quick flight with the Xcitor. I had installed a new
glider last week
but I haven't had the chance to test it out. I can tell you that their is no
better than the Xcitor!! It's an awesome aircraft!!

Now this is a climb
rate!!
Life's good!!
16 May 09 -
Early Morning Flight - Bob and Glen took an early morning flight
from Weyman's Field this morning. These guy's are
frequently flying the skies of
the Fredericton, NB area. Glen is flying his new Pluto glider.

16 May 09 - Steve
completes his Trike Training Course - Steve completed his final
remaining qualification flight's this morning. Steve's wife Ann was there to see
his progress. I think she was impressed, Steve set up and launched each
time flawlessly with no requirement of input from myself. Congrat's Steve on
completing your course!!

13 May 09 -
Steve continues to fly!! - Steve arrived again bright and early to
continue on with training and this time with the support of his son Devon. Steve
flew an additional 11 flight's this morning and has arrived at the stage where
he requires little input from me during his flight's.
Good work Steve!!

12 May 09 -
Steve flew this morning!! - Steve and I were set up & ready to
launch not long after first light. I had conducted a short demo flight to
confirm the flight pattern. We set Steve up and before he knew it he was
flying!! Steve flew nine flights this morning. After flying, we reviewed the
videos of his flight's and touched on point's to improve. Tomorrow morning is forecasted
good weather so we're hoping to have Steve back in the air!! Good work Steve!!

11 May 09 -
Stephen passes his SPP - Steve arrived this evening for a complete
review of the course material and afterwards to write his student pilot permit
exam. Steve wrote and passed his exam!! He was issued a SPP and he now is
legal to fly a PPG under instructor supervision. We were hoping for a drop in
winds to possibly get in a flight but Mother Nature put that on hold until
hopefully tomorrow morning. We'll be up bright and early tomorrow morning and
with some help from Mother nature Steve will get in his first flight!!
9 May 09 -
Stephen's First Day of Mini Training - Stephen is the proud new
owner of the Mini PPCg. Steve had started his training today,
we covered a full day
of training to where he is ready to write his Student Pilot Permit Exam. The
winds came down enough to where we had a chance to practice glider inflations.
Steve did very well. The next training session won't be until Monday evening
where I'm hoping the weather
will co-operate for
some additional Glider practice and time to write his SPP. (Few Pics)

8 May 09 -
Greeneagle First Flight - The rain had finally stopped and I had a
chance to install the glider ( Sting 250) on the Greeneagle.
I waited
until late in the evening when it looked like it wouldn't rain again and set her
up in the training field. I installed "A" assist to aid inflation.
The
"A" assist pulls on the "A" risers automatically for the
pilot so that he/she does not have to hold and pull up the "A" risers
during inflation.
The glider came up nice and straight and in no time I
was in the air. I was very impressed with the climb. Once at level flight
the 35 HP 4 stroke thumper settled into a nice low level humm!! I
did a few touch & go's and then I landed. I then re-set up and
launched and again it was a very
easy almost effortless take-off!! This unit
flies itself!!
Point to note, missing
is the leather padded cover for the seat and the front Disc brakes. I'm awaiting
these part's next week.
Few Pics

5 May 09 -
Newly updated PPG gear site - We had improved the Paramotor & Trike
gear sites by organizing them individually into their perspective
Manufacturers. Also I have commented on a few suggestions what to consider when
purchasing PPG gear. Check it out on the Home page under Paramotors & Trikes
link.
5 May 09 -
Tandem Flight with Paul - This morning Paul showed up eager
and on
schedule ready to fly his first Ultra-Light Tandem flight
with the Xcitor.
The winds were already starting to pick up and were forecasted 15 Kms this
morning. We launched and flew to 500' where we
were achieved a ground speed 45 kms into the wind. The view was great and the air was
fairly smooth. We flew North of Sussex and Paul
had a chance to take over
the controls of the Xcitor. After 20 minutes of flight the winds were getting stronger
so I had
told Paul to steer towards
home . On our return trip
I looked down
at the GPS and at an altitude of 1000' we had a ground speed of 101 kms with
smooth air. Needless
to say we made it back quickly, that's an Xcitor
speed record to date!! Paul was all smiles after a Great flight!!

4 May 09 -
First Flight this year in Sussex - I was able to take my
first flight for this year in Sussex with the XCitor. The winds predicted
aloft were forcasted high and boy were they!! The winds on the ground were
nearly calm but at 1000' with full trims out my forward speed was
4 khm into the
wind and it was quite bumpy. Considering the Xcitor cruises at 60-65 kms winds
aloft were significant. I dropped down to 500'
and the winds were fairly smooth
and I flew around the area for a 20 min flight. I would have loved to get in a
XC but as experienced pilot's know
the winds aloft will eventually sink to
surface. Anyway, it was nice to get back in the air with my dream
machine!!

3 May 09 -
Bob and Glen flew new gliders - At Weymen's Field in
Fredericton,NB, Bob & Glen flew new gliders for the first time. Bob
flew
a new Red Sky Fides glider and Glen his Axis Power Pluto. Looks like
they had a great flight!! Few pics

2 May 09 - 15th

of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia will be filled with colourful flying machines for
their 15th Atlantic Festival of Paragliding and Air Sports from the 15 - 18 May
2009. Paragliders, Hang Gliders, Powered Paraglides and Ultra lights
from the Maritime Provinces will be attending if weather permits.

28 April 09 -
We're back in New Brunswick - We're back home in Sussex, New
Brunswick and all connected. I had a few calls on used equipment and I'm
willing to sell my Walkerjet Airwolf. This unit has a Ross 100 engine that
put's out around 120 lbs of thrust. It has a clutch and gear drive,
therefore no spinning pro at idle and great for beginners. This unit suits a
pilot weighting from 120 - 200 lbs. Asking $3,800.00. For
further info you can always check out the Used Gear for sale link above or
http://www.poweredparaglidingnewbrunswick.com/news/used.htm

19 April 09 -
Last day in Florida - Monday, Johanne and I will be on the
road traveling back home. We will not have internet nor phone
services until we reconnect with our provider. In the
meantime, you can always reach us by cell at 506-434-5601 or
5602.
16 April 09 - New Nomad line of equipment
- The New Nomad II paramotor has arrived. The engine (Ross 100) will have
no changes
due to it's power to weight ratio and dependability. The main change
are in the cage design, it's a mixture of the older SD frame with the
current
Nomad frame. The Nomad II will be more stronger with the double hoop design and
easier to disassemble with the three piece
cage.
The Nomad Trike has been redeveloped. The New Trike
was redesigned for easier attachment to the paramotor and disassembly.
Other characteristics include retracting rear wheels for easy transport and a rear
suspension.

12 April 09 - Happy Easter
- Marty, Stan and I flew along the St John River heading North due to
prevailing wind direction. Following each other along the river
bank, Marty was able to take some great pictures of Stan low flying and
attempting to tip a gators. There were plenty of gators to see at every
corner. We flew to Hatbill and then to Loughman's Lodge Restaurant for a quick
coffee break. Then we were in the air again heading back to the LZ
covering about 30 miles.
