                                                              PPG Field of Dreams!!

"If you build it, they will come"

By the way I just cut this field 4 days ago!! Fertile farm land!!

27 May 07 - Trikers Corner  - Bruce, Ed and I were planing on a nice XC this morning.  Unfortunately the winds aloft were quite strong and by the time Bruce and I went to XC altitude it was apparent that this was going to be a short flight.

26 May 07 - Refresher training and qualification -   Armand had taken refresher training to complete his qualifications to enable him to write his pilot exam this morning. Armand had also purchased a used XC in which was balance tested and his glider brakes adjusted to ensure correct operation during his first qualification flights.

25 May 07 - Another qualified pilot!! -   The weather this morning was light and the air was warm, perfect for flying. Dave has been flying for a long time, he is an accomplished fixed wing pilot as well as running a parachute school for 20 years. Needless to say, that his PPG training went very smooth and when he started to fly this morning his experience under canopy was apparent. Dave flew all of his qualifying flights this morning and had a flawless launch technique in which allowed him to qualify in one flying session. Great work Dave!!

24 May 07 - Jim passes his SPP test!! - The weather was not good today for flying, but that gave Jim a chance to write his SPP. Jim passed the exam and was issued his SPP, he is now ready to fly!! The winds look like they may be good tomorrow morning. Jim and Dave will be here bright and early to hopefully get in their first flight.

23 May 07 - Day 2 of Jim & Dave's training -   Not long after Bruce had flown this morning,  I had started foot launch training with Jim & Dave. The winds were still fairly light in which gave the students a chance to practice forward launches. Afterwards we carried on with paramotor and In-Flight training.  Dave is now at the flying stage and Jim will be soon be joining him after writing his Student Pilot permit test tomorrow morning. Good work guys, Long day!!

23 May 07 - Bruce complete's his PPG Trike course -    Bruce was set up and ready to fly at 0600hrs this morning. The winds were light, perfect for trike flights.  Bruce flew steadily this morning and had flown 8 successful unassisted flights to complete his course. Bruce is the first trike PPG pilot in the Sussex area. Congrats Bruce!!

22 May 07 - Jim & Dave start training - Finally the rainy weather had stopped so that PPGNB can restart training. Today we covered several subjects on ground school but mostly emphasized kiting skills. Kiting as mentioned before is the most difficult part of PPG training. It was a good full day of work and the students showed great progress. Good work Guys!! (Few Pics)

21 May 07 - Claude's Testimonial -

   Hi Frank/Johanne

Here is a photo of me flying without Frank once again.  Frank and Johanne,  I want to thank you again for the excellent service and hospitality.  As kid growing up one of my dream was to be able to fly on my own, every plane or bird that would be flying above me I always stop and look at them and always wondering what is the view up there, Well one day surfing the internet luckily I had found Poweredparaglidingnewbrunswick. And I couldn’t have find a better place to buy all my gear and one of the lucky one to get trained by Frank Savignac  .This guy has more patience with students that a mother has for a child. Frank is one of those people that he will not give up on you. And while I was taking my course they let me sleep in the “in-law sweet” that no motel could give you i.e. Screen TV, plenty of powered paragliding videos etc…

Once again Frank and Johanne Thanks again for helping me achieve my life long dream!

13 May 07 - Bruce Fly's -  The winds were calm this morning, perfect for trike flying. Bruce showed up at 0600 Hrs and we reviewed Flight and Launch  procedure.  We set him up for launch and off he went. He had three great flights this morning. (Few pics)

12 May 07 - Bruce C starts trike training -   Bruce C had started early this morning for trike training. We started at 0900 hrs and we covered paraglider theory classes then started with assembly and disassembly of his trike. We then covered Pre-flight/Starting procedure and I had Bruce to play with the trike in the field to include launch technique.  After that we broke for lunch and in the afternoon we started  layout, sorting out lines and proper folding of  the paraglider(packing up).  The winds were a little high for connecting the paraglider to the trike so we put Bruce into the Flight simulator and did a balance check. We then carried on with in-flight procedure and spent a good time on coveing what Bruce's first flight would invlove. After supper the winds were starting to lighten up and we started Trike Kiting. We practiced the kiting Theory without connecting the glider to the trike, then followed by connecting the glider to the trike. The way I teach Trike training is to attach the trike (in light winds) to my tractor and this gives the forward simulation of the thrust you would get from the motor. Therefore the student can practice inflations of the paraglider without having the motor running eliminating the possibility of a early parablend. After several hours Bruce was inflating his glider very well and had good glider control. It was getting dark so we went inside and Bruce wrote his SPP exam. He was successful and was issued his SPP.  We then watched the Risk & Reward video and confirmed many of the training teaching points covered in today's lessons. There's  much more to learn, but Bruce is close to getting in his first flight!! Long Day!! Good work Bruce!!
